Two deaths brought by the Montague and Capulet rivalry
Mercutio and Tybalt were both killed today in the town square. What started as a simple argument, quickly escalated. “When Mercutio was stabbed, he wouldn’t tell anybody. He just pretended he was alright. Then he collapsed and we all thought it was a practical joke.” -Anonymous Mercutio was bathing in the fountain, getting water and enjoying himself. Then Tybalt came along, not asking for trouble. He started a conversation with him. Then Romeo enters and starts talking to Tybalt. Witnesses say he was trying to make jokes at Tybalt's expense. Tybalt was already angry with him of course because he came to ruin his Capulet party the previous night. Tybalt tried to begin a fight with Romeo, but he would have no part in it. Romeo rudeness furthered Tybalts anger. Then Mercucio stepped in. “Romeo made sure that the sword stabbed Mercucio. I think that he just wanted an excuse to come after Tybalt.” -Anonymous After seeing his friend lay dead on the ground Romeo came for Tybalt. “It was an accident”, one of the witnesses heard Tybalt say. The two foes brought there fight to a back allyway, where it went on for a while, until Romeo finally got the best of Tybalt. “I just wanted to avenge my best friend death.” -Romeo Rumors have it that Romeo is smitten with the lovely Juliet. Where does this put them now? Will Juliet forgive him for killer her cousin? |
